Prof. Faraj will serve as a track chair at EGOS 2018

Professor Faraj will serve as a chair with Prof. Ben-Menahem and Prof. von Krogh for the track of "New Approaches to Organizing Collaborative Knowledge Creation" at 34th European Group of Organizational Studies (EGOS). EGOS 2018 will be held in Tallinn, Estonia on July 5-7, 2018.

Prof. Faraj wins Best Published Paper Award (AOM 2016)

Professor Samer Faraj, Professor Steven Johnson, and Professor Hani Safadi are the winners of the Best Published Paper Award of 2016, an award given by the OCIS division of Academy of Management for the following article: Johnson, S. L., Safadi, H., & Faraj, S. (2015). The emergence of online community leadership. Information Systems Research, 26(1), 165-187.

GCC Student receives Best Student Paper Award for the Information Systems Division of ASAC

GCC Student Karla Sayegh has received the Best Student Paper Award for the Information Systems Division of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC). Her paper entitled Understanding the Materiality of Technology: Thing or No-Thing? Substance or Consequence? will be presented at the next ASAC Conference to be held in Muskoka, ON in May.

Karla will also present a second paper at the Organizational Theory Division with the title How Lower Participants in Complex Organizations Acquire Informal Power: A Tune-Up of Mechanic’s Power. GCC Student Diego Mastroianni will also present at the same division his most recent work entitled Synchronizing Knowledge in Cross-Functional Teams.

Two GCC papers accepted for the next EGOS Colloquium

Two submissions from our PhD students Mahmood Zargar and Diego Mastroianni were accepted for presentation at the 29th EGOS Colloquium 2013 in Montreal. They will both present at Sub-theme 54 (Rethinking the Social, Technical and Material Foundations of Organizations). Their papers are entitled "Managing knowledge boundaries in bioinformatics research units" and "Entanglement or imbrication? Bridging the divide of sociomateriality literature", respectively.
